A CL65 PLT COMMENTS ON THE CRW ARPT CHART PRESENTATION INDICATING DISTINCT INFIELD AREAS BTWN THE AIRLINE RAMP AND TXWYS A3; E; AND F.
Narrative
THE ARPT DIAGRAM 10-9 FOR CRW APPEARS TO INDICATE THAT TXWYS E; A3; AND F ARE THE ONLY RTES BY WHICH TO ACCESS THE NW SIDE OF THE AIRLINE RAMP FROM TXWY A. HOWEVER; THE ENTIRE AREA FROM TXWY A SE TO THE RAMP IS ACTUALLY HARD-SURFACED AND GIVES THE IMPRESSION THAT A TURN MAY BE MADE FROM ANYWHERE ALONG TXWY A DIRECTLY ONTO THE RAMP. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE PLT STATED THAT HE OPERATED INTO THIS ARPT AT NIGHT AND DID IN FACT TAXI ACROSS THE INFIELD. HE DOES NOT REMEMBER IF RWY EDGE LINE PAINTING EXISTS BUT HE DOES BELIEVE CTRLINE PAINTING WAS CLR. TXWY LIGHTS DO EXIST; BUT THERE IS 1 WHITE LIGHT ON THE TXWY EDGE THAT CONFUSED HIM. HE DOES NOT KNOW THE STRESS CAPABILITY OF THAT AREA. ADDITIONALLY; THE INFIELD AREA CONDITION IS GOOD AND IS EASILY CONFUSED WITH THE TXWY. RPTR BELIEVES THE COMMERCIAL CHART SHOULD CONTAIN A NOTE ABOUT THE POTENTIAL CONFUSION BTWN THE TXWY AND INFIELDS. PAINTING OR OTHERWISE MARKING THE INFIELD PAVEMENT WOULD HELP INFIELD IDENT WHILE ACTUALLY TAXIING.
