Narrative

FLT X TAXIED OUT TO RWY 26R FOR TKOF USING TXWY Y; TXWY N; TXWY N10; CROSS RWY 26L (CLOSED) FOR TKOF. TEMPORARY LIGHTS PUT ON TXWY N BTWN TXWY N6 AND TXWY N8 FOR DISPLACED TXWY DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. LIGHTS WERE NOT ON DUE TO A SHORT IN THE SYS. LIGHTS WERE PLACED ON THE CTR OF TXWY N. NO INFO HAD BEEN OFFERED BY GND CTL THAT LIGHTS WERE IN PLACE AND NOT WORKING. RAMP CTL WOMAN (IN TRUCK) WAS APOLOGETIC THAT LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING ON TXWY N AND ALSO ON S SIDE OF FIELD DUE TO SHORTS IN ELECTRICAL SYS. WE FELT WE MAY HAVE TAXIED OVER FIRST SET OF LIGHTS. WE RETURNED TO GATE AND WROTE UP THE ACFT FOR POSSIBLE TIRE DAMAGE. MAINT INSPECTED GEAR; FOUND NO DAMAGE; AND SIGNED OFF LOGBOOK. WE PUSHED BACK AND CONTINUED FLT TO TPA. IN SUMMARY; I FEEL THE TXWY LIGHTING AT MIA IS INADEQUATE AROUND THE CURRENT CONSTRUCTION AREAS. I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND CONSIDERATION OF USING THE NOSE LNDG LIGHT FOR TAXIING WHEN AWAY FROM TERMINAL AREA AND ITS USE DOES NOT BLIND OTHER ACFT. THIS WOULD FACILITATE SEEING FOD ON TXWYS EARLIER.
