A B757-200 CREW RECEIVED AN ACARS MESSAGE. DURING TKOF GEAR RETRACTION CAUSING CONCERN BUT ALERTING THEM TO A WT AND BAL ERROR.

Narrative

DURING TAXI OUT OF SFO APPROX 3 MINS AFTER PUSH WE RECEIVED OUR FINAL WTS FROM LOAD PLANNING. WE TAXIED TO RWY 1R AT SFO UNEVENTFULLY AND WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. DURING ROTATION AT GEAR RETRACTION WE GOT A 'DING' WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A CABIN CALL FROM THE FLT ATTENDANTS. WE SOON DISCOVERED IT WAS NOT THAT; BUT INSTEAD AN ACARS MESSAGE WITH AN AUDIO 'DING.' AT A SAFE ALT THE ACARS MESSAGE WE GOT WAS FROM LOAD PLANNING; STATING THAT THE STATION HAD REVISED THEIR FINAL LOAD PLAN AND OUR CURRENT WTS WERE INVALID. OUR THOUGHTS WERE AS FOLLOWS: VERY BAD TIMING ON THE ACARS MESSAGE. LATER MESSAGE SAID NO MAJOR CHANGES. WE SHOULD NOT BE GETTING AN AURAL DING AT GEAR RETRACTION FOR THOSE TYPE OF MESSAGES. (TYPE ACFT WAS B757-200.) ALSO; STATION SHOULD BETTER COORD WITH LOAD PLANNER. REALLY (LATE) BAD TIMING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 697398: AS I SEE IT; THERE ARE 2 ISSUES OF CONCERN HERE. 1) IS LOAD PLANNING ABLE TO GIVE US ACCURATE WTS/BAL PRIOR TO TKOF. 2) WHY; WHEN WARNINGS/CAUTIONS; ETC; ARE INHIBITED DURING THE HIGH SPD PORTION OF THE TKOF; IS THE VERY DISTRACTING ACARS CHIME FUNCTIONAL. IF I RECEIVE A CHIME AT THAT POINT; I ASSUME AN EMER IN THE CABIN; NOT A 'PAPERWORK ISSUE' AT LOAD PLANNING?
