A CRJ CAPT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE LEGALITY OF FLYING UNSCHEDULED FLT TIME THAT EXCEEDS SCHEDULED FLT TIME BASED ON THE PREVIOUS NIGHT'S SCHEDULED REST PERIOD.

Narrative

I AM FILLING OUT THIS RPT REGARDING A REST ISSUE. I FILLED OUT A RPT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ISSUE. HOWEVER; I THOUGHT THEY TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING. I WAS LATER INFORMED THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO FILL OUT A NASA RPT TOO. SO THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING NOW. THE ISSUE IS CONCERNING REST THAT I RECEIVED FOR A FLT ON JUN/SAT/06. WHEN I STARTED THE DAY I HAD RECEIVED THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF REST. HOWEVER; THAT DAY I HAD TO DO A GATE RETURN FOR FUEL. WHEN I GOT TO ARR ARPT; I CALLED SCHEDULING BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE GATE RETURN WAS GOING TO TAKE ME OVER THE ALLOWED AMOUNT OF FLYING FOR THE REST I RECEIVED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GATE RETURN IS NOT SCHEDULED AND PER MANUAL DOES NOT COUNT FOR RECALCULATING TIME FOR REST. IN ADDITION; I CALLED THE DUTY PLT WHO TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I CONSULTED 3 SOURCES (IE; SCHEDULING; DUTY PLT AND FOM) AND ALL SOURCES SAID IT WAS LEGAL. SO I CONTINUED MY FLT. I LATER BECAME CONCERNED BECAUSE I NOTICED A CHANGE LATER AFTER THE FACT. ACCORDING TO THE FOM; I THINK I FOLLOWED EVERYTHING TO THE LETTER. HOWEVER; THE CHANGE TO MY SCHEDULE AFTER THE FACT MAKES ME CONCERNED SOMETHING WAS INCORRECT.
