Synopsis

AN ACR CAPT NOTES THAT A JET TAXI RESTRICTION EXISTS ON TTPP'S TXWY WEST OF TXWY A1 BUT THAT RESTRICTION IS NOT ON THE COMMERCIAL ARPT DIAGRAM.

Narrative

FLT DEPARTING TTPP WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 10. WE BOTH HAD OUR 10-9 ARPT PAGE OUT. THERE IS NO MENTION ANYWHERE ON THE CHART THAT WE COULD NOT TAXI FROM THE RAMP ON THE N SIDE OF THE ARPT TO USE THE FULL LENGTH OF RWY 10. THERE SHOULD BE A SIGN AND A NOTE ON THE 10-9 PAGE THAT TXWY A; W OF A-1 IS UNUSABLE TO JET ACFT. THERE IS A SMALL DIAGRAM AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE 10-7Z THAT IS A LITTLE CLEARER; BUT NO NOTE REFERENCING THE PORTION OF THE TXWY CLOSED TO JET ONLY ACFT; BUT OPEN TO SOME ACFT. NO SIGNS EITHER. NEVER DID GET A CLEAR ANSWER FROM GND AS TO WHO COULD USE IT AND WHO COULDN'T; AND THERE HAD BEEN AN INCIDENT LAST WEEK. WE COULDN'T FIND ANY NOTAMS REFERENCING THE TXWY WAS CLOSED TO ANYONE. THE FO AND I HAD ONLY BEEN INTO TTPP ONCE BEFORE. WE HAD A TUG COME OUT AND PUSH US BACK TO TXWY A1; INSTEAD OF DOING A 180 DEG TURN AS TWR REQUESTED. FROM THERE WE TAXIED ACROSS THE RWY TO USE THE FULL LENGTH; EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A TPS FOR THE INTXN RWY 10X.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT A LARGE YELLOW X WAS PAINTED ON THE TXWY BUT THE CREW DID NOT INTERPRET THAT AS MEANING THE TXWY WAS CLOSED BECAUSE NORMALLY AN X IS USED TO INDICATE A CLOSED RWY. NEITHER CREW MEMBER RECALLS ANY CLRNC BEYOND TAXI TO RWY 10 VIA TXWY A1. THEY DO NOT REMEMBER A RWY CROSSING RESTRICTION. THE ONLY REASON THE CREW CAN THINK OF FOR THE JET TAXI RESTRICTION THROUGH THAT AREA IS THAT THE RAMP AT THE APCH END OF RWY 10 HAS LIGHT ACFT AND HELIS PARKED ON IT AND THOSE ACFT MAY BE DAMAGED BY JET BLAST AS A JET ACFT TURNS THE CORNER TO RWY 10.
