B757 CAPT MISREADS ACARS PDC AND LOADS WRONG SID IN FMC.

Narrative

UPON RECEIVING OUR PDC; I LOOKED AT IT AND SAW THE NAME OF OUR DEP 'MAXXO 1.' IT WAS ALREADY LOADED IN THE FMS SO I BRIEFED IT QUICKLY AND THE COPLT AND I LAUGHED ABOUT THE INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN FROM 078 DEGS TO 080 DEGS AT 1550 FT. I ALMOST MISSED THE TURN TO 100 DEGS LATER IN THE DEP. AFTER TKOF AND SOON AFTER TURNING TO 100 DEGS; THE DEP CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE THE L TURN ON THE SJN 3 DEP. WE TOLD HIM WE WERE FLYING THE MAXXO DEP. WE LOOKED AT THE PDC AGAIN AND SAW THAT THE SJN 3 DEP WAS ALSO ON OUR PDC -- IN THE 'CLRED' SECTION! MAXXO WAS LISTED IN THE 'FILED RTE' SECTION. THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT. I FEEL THE PDC FORMAT SET ME UP TO MAKE THIS MISTAKE. IT WAS AN EARLY MORNING DEP AND 2 DEPS WERE LISTED ON THE PDC. EVEN THOUGH I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT 1 WAS 'CLRED' AND 1 WAS 'FILED;' I DON'T THINK THAT 2 RTES SHOULD EVER BE DISPLAYED ON A PDC. IF A CREW MAKES A MISTAKE LIKE I DID; THERE IS NO EXTERNAL SAFEGUARD BEFORE THE POSSIBILITY OF A TFC CONFLICT OCCURS. ONLY INFO THAT DIRECTLY PERTAINS TO WHAT ATC WANTS US TO DO WITH OUR ACFT SHOULD BE ON THE PDC OR THERE SHOULD BE AN EXTERNAL XCHK.
