PLT RPTS NOT SEEING RWY HOLD SHORT MARKINGS FOR RWY 28C USING TXWY E AT PIT.
Narrative
ON TAXI OUT LAST MONTH; I ENCOUNTERED AN ANOMALY IN THE TAXIWAY MARKINGS AT PIT. IT WAS A DAYTIME CLEAR VFR DAY IN AN AIRBUS. TAXI ROUTE ASSIGNED WAS FROM THE SOUTH END OF THE TERMINAL 'TAXI TO RWY 28C VIA WHISKY; ECHO; CROSS RWY 14.' AFTER CROSSING RWY 14 AND PASSING TAXIWAY NOVEMBER; I WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOLD SHORT MARKINGS FOR RWY 28C. I FOUND NONE! JUST BEFORE TAXIWAY ECHO BENDS SOUTH TO JOIN RWY 28C; THERE IS A HOLD MARKING ON THE TAXIWAY FOR THE ILS CRITICAL AREA; BUT NO HOLD SHORT MARKING FOR THE RWY. THERE WAS NO 'WIG WAG' OR ANY OTHER MARKINGS WHATSOEVER TO DESIGNATE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY. I HELD AT THE ILS HOLD LINE FOR LACK OF A BETTER PLAN. ONCE CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF; WE PROCEEDED PAST THE ILS HOLD LINE; TURNED SOUTH (CONTINUED) ON ECHO; TURNED WEST ONTO THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD; AND PUSHED THE POWER UP FOR TAKEOFF; WITHOUT ONCE SEEING ANYTHING RESEMBLING A HOLD SHORT MARK! I DON'T KNOW IF I MISSED IT; BUT I DON'T THINK IT'S THERE. IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EASTERNMOST PORTION OF TAXIWAY ECHO BEING 'XX'ED OUT ON THE TAXIWAY (20-9) DIAGRAM. JUST THOUGHT YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THIS OUT.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR INDICATED THAT ALL THE PRECEDING ACFT TO RWY 28C CONTINUED TO THE END OF THE RWY BEFORE STOPPING.
