AN A320 CAPTAIN WAS ACCUSED BY MAINT DUTY SUPERVISOR OF MAKING A PERSONAL OR POLITICAL STATEMENT AFTER CAPTAIN FOUND AN UNDOCUMENTED MAINT REPAIR ON THE LEFT WING WHILE AT AN OUTSTATION.

Narrative

ON WALKAROUND FOUND WHAT LOOKED TO BE A REPAIR ON THE L LEADING EDGE OF WING. LOOKED LIKE PUTTY AND AREA SEEMED BUFFED OUT; WITH 2 CIRCLES PAINTED AT THE AREA. CHKED THE LOGBOOK ACFT DAMAGE RPT TO SEE IF IT WAS LISTED. IT WAS NOT; CALLED DISPATCH AND HAD A 3 WAY CONVERSATION WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT CTL. MAINT CTL COULD NOT FIND ANY HISTORY OF A REPAIR IN THAT AREA; SO THEY TOLD ME TO PUT IT IN THE BOOK AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT FROM THERE. ABOUT XA00 AM LCL TIME I WAS CALLED BY A MAINT DUTY SUPVR (ON MY CELL PHONE). HE BEGAN TO PUT PRESSURE ON ME AS TO WHY I WOULD FIND THIS AT AN OUTSTATION AND NOT A MAINT BASE. HE TOLD ME I WAS EITHER MAKING A PERSONAL OR POLITICAL STATEMENT. HE TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE OF MY ACTIONS SOME VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE HAD TO COME TO WORK THAT DAY. I SHOT BACK AND ASKED HIM IF HE EXPECTED ME TO TAKE A PLANE THAT MAY HAVE A PROB. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS WILLING TO REPEAT THOSE ACCUSATIONS IN FRONT OF MY CHIEF PLT AND FAA? HE STARTED TO BACK OFF. I CONTINUED MY DAY OF WAITING FOR THE PAPERWORK. THE COMPANY HAS NO RIGHT TO TRY AND PRESSURE A PLT INTO TAKING AN AIRPLANE WHEN A DISCREPANCY WITH THAT PLANE EXISTS.
