Narrative
WE WERE ASSIGNED RWY 17C FROM APCH. GIVEN A HDG OF 200 DEGS TO INTERCEPT RWY 17C AND TOLD TO DSND TO 2500 FT AND MAINTAIN TIL INTERCEPTING FINAL. AS WE APCHED CTRLINE ON FMC DISPLAY FOR RWY 17C WE NOTICED WE HAD NEITHER LOC OR GS INDICATION. I ASKED ATC IF THE RWY 17C ILS WAS WORKING AND THEY REPLIED THAT IT WAS FAR AS THEY KNEW. I DOUBLE CHKED FREQ 110.3 AND SELECTED FULL ILS ON MY DISPLAY AND WHICH SHOWED ABOUT 1.5 DOTS OFF. ATC THEN TOLD US TO TURN L TO 090 DEGS AND CLB TO 3000 FT. THEY THEN ASSIGNED US TO RWY 17L. WHILE SETTING UP FOR THE NEW RWY WE NOTICED THAT THE ILS COURSE SELECTOR WAS SET TO 354 DEGS INSTEAD OF 174 DEGS. THE FO WAS FLYING AND BRIEFED A VISUAL FOR RWY 17C; BUT MISSED THE 354 DEG COURSE. OF COURSE; I MISSED IT AS WELL. EARLIER IN THE FLT WE THOUGHT RWY 35C MIGHT BE THE LNDG RWY WHICH IS WHY IT WAS SET TO 354 DEGS. WHEN ASSIGNED TO RWY 17C FREQ 110.3 WAS SET AND IDENTIFIED AND WHEN I CHKED MY NAV DISPLAY I VERIFIED FREQ 110.3 BUT DIDN'T NOTICE THE COURSE OF 354 DEGS JUST THAT THE COURSE BAR WAS ALIGNED IN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE PROPER DIRECTION. WE BOTH MISSED THE ERROR; NO EXCUSE. ON SECOND APCH WE WERE SIDESTEPPED TO RWY 17C AND BOTH ILS DISPLAYS WORKED NORMALLY FOR RWY 17C.
