CABIN ATTENDANT IS THREATENED WITH DISCIPLINARY ACTION FOR REQUESTING REMOVAL FROM A FLT SEQUENCE AFTER A LAYOVER SHORTENED DUE TO OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS.

Narrative

WE ARRIVED LATE INTO OUR REST PERIOD DUE TO OPERATIONAL DIFFICULTIES. WE WERE SCHEDULED FOR A 9 HR 53 MIN REST PERIOD; REDUCIBLE TO 9 HRS. WHEN WE REACHED OUR SCHEDULING DEPT VIA PHONE; WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD BE TAKEN DOWN TO 8 HRS AND THE PLTS WOULD BE RELEASED AFTER A ROUND TRIP TO ZZZ FOR CREW REST. AS FLT ATTENDANT; I WAS TOLD I WOULD COMPLETE THE ENTIRE TRIP; WHICH WAS SCHEDULED FOR 11 HRS AND 53 MINS OF DUTY TIME AND 7 HRS AND 45 MINS OF FLT TIME. I INFORMED SCHEDULING THAT I WOULD ALSO BE FATIGUED AND WOULD LIKE TO BE RELEASED AFTER THE ZZZ TRIP; BUT WAS TOLD I HAD NO TIME LIMITS. I REPEATED THAT I WOULD BE TOO FATIGUED TO FLY NEARLY 8 HRS AND A NEARLY 12 HR DUTY DAY ON 5 1/2 HR SLEEP. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I WAS REFUSING TO COMPLETE THE TRIP; I WOULD BE CHARGED WITH AN 'OCCURRENCE' WHICH IS A STEP IN THE DISCIPLINARY PROCESS; AND HAVE MY PAY REDUCED FOR THAT TRIP. I ELECTED TO COMPLETE THE TRIP; UNDER THESE THREATS; BUT EXPERIENCED CONSIDERABLE FATIGUE INCLUDING; BUT NOT LIMITED TO; LACK OF CONCENTRATION; SHORT TERM MEMORY DIFFICULTY; AND SPEECH PROBS. I FEEL I WAS FORCED TO ACT AS A CREW MEMBER UNDER DURESS WHILE FATIGUED CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS A COMMON PRACTICE WITH OUR CREW SCHEDULING DEPT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
