AN A320 CREW REPORTS A REOCCURRING GREEN SYS HYD OVERHEAT ECAM. EMER WAS DECLARED. THE FLT CONTINUED TO ITS DESTINATION FOR NORMAL LANDING.

Narrative

THIS IS AN ACCOUNT OF A GREEN SYS HYD OVERHEAT THAT LED TO DECLARING AN EMER FOR THE LNDG AT ZZZ1. THE ACFT HAD AT LEAST 3 GREEN SYS OVERHEATS IN THE LOG HISTORY. CONTRACT MAINT HAD WORKED ON THE AIRPLANE OVERNIGHT IN ZZZ2. WE DID AN ENG RUN PRIOR TO BOARDING TO SEE IF THE OVERHEAT RETURNED ON THE GND AFTER REPLACEMENT OF A TEMP SENSOR. ALL CHKED GOOD ON THE GND. REACHING FL350; WE GOT THE GREEN SYS RESERVOIR OVERHEAT ECAM AND ACCOMPLISHED THE ECAM; PTU OFF; GREEN ENG PUMP OFF PROC; THEN FOLLOWED IT UP WITH THE BOOK. THE CAPT GOT A PHONE PATCH WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT TO DISCUSS THE PROB. EVERYONE CONCURRED THAT CONTINUING TO ZZZ1 WAS APPROPRIATE. DISPATCH INDICATED HE WOULD ADVISE ZZZ1 ATC AND DECLARE AN EMER AND HAVE EQUIP STANDING BY FOR OUR ARR. AFTER 20 MINS THE OVERHEAT MESSAGE EXTINGUISHED. WE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE GREEN SYS OFF UNTIL OUR ARR AT ZZZ1 AND PLANNED TO TURN THE GREEN SYS ON ABOUT 15 MI OUT TO RECOVER THE SYS FOR LNDG. UPON CHKING IN WITH APCH CTL; WE TOLD THEM WE WOULD LIKE TO DECLARE AN EMER AS A PRECAUTION IN CASE THE SYS OVERHEATED AGAIN BEFORE LNDG. THEY IMMEDIATELY ISSUED HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE WE CLOSED THE RWY. ABEAM RWY 19L WE TURNED THE GREEN PUMP ON AND THE PTU ON; EXTENDED THE GEAR. WE MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WITH NORMAL HYDS. AFTER CLRING THE RWY; THE EMER CREW WANTED TO DO A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE GEAR; AFTER RECEIVING THE OK FROM THE CFR CREW WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. A MECH MET US AND THE FAA MET US AT THE GATE. VERBAL DEBRIEF WITH BOTH PARTIES.
