AN ACR PILOT WAS CLRED TO ITS ALTERNATE AFTER A GAR BUT DISCOVERED THEY DID NOT HAVE APCH CHARTS FOR THAT ARPT. A FUEL EMERGENCY REQUIRED LNDG AT THAT ARPT.
Narrative
DUE TO TURB AND WIND EXCEEDING ACFT LIMITATIONS; WE WENT AROUND FROM ABOUT 1500 FT AGL ON FINAL APCH AT ZZZ. DURING THE GAR; ATC GAVE US CLRNC TO ZZZ2; OUR FILED ALTERNATE. AT THIS POINT; WE BOTH REALIZED THAT WE DID NOT HAVE ANY APCH CHARTS FOR ZZZ2 EVEN THOUGH THE DISPATCHER FILED IT AS OUR ALTERNATE. I HAD FLOWN APCHS INTO THIS ARPT IN THE SIMULATOR AND WAS FAMILIAR WITH IT AND THOUGHT THAT THERE WERE CHARTS FOR IT. I KNEW WE HAD CHARTS FOR ZZZ3 AND JUST ASSUMED THAT WE HAD THEM FOR ZZZ2. MY FO HAD FLOWN OUT OF OTHER NEARBY ARPTS AND HE ALSO ASSUMED WE WOULD HAVE HAD THEM. NEITHER OF US HAD LOOKED PRIOR TO DEP EVEN THOUGH WE BOTH ADMITTED LATER THAT WE HAD THOUGHT ABOUT IT. DUE TO EXCESSIVE LOW ALT VECTORING AT LOW AIRSPDS; OUR FUEL BURN WAS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN PLANNED. WE DECLARED A MINIMUM FUEL STATE AS WE DIVERTED TO ZZZ2. NOT HAVING CHARTS FOR THE ARPT CAUSED A GREAT DEAL OF CONFUSION TO BOTH US AND ATC. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN ZZZ2; WE WERE DOWN TO 4900 LBS OF FUEL. THE LCL CTLR DECLARED A FUEL EMER FOR US DURING THE APCH TO ZZZ2. NO EQUIP WAS REQUESTED. LNDG WAS NORMAL EXCEPT FOR NOT HAVING VERY MUCH FUEL LEFT. THE PRACTICE OF UTILIZING AN ARPT FOR AN ALTERNATE WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE CHARTS BEING AVAILABLE FOR THE CREW MUST STOP. WE SHOULD HAVE LOOKED. THE DISPATCHER SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WE DID NOT HAVE THE INFO. WHEN I QUERIED TO DISPATCHER ON ARR IN ZZZ2 ABOUT THIS; HE ACTED SURPRISED. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THEY HAD THIS INFO IN THEIR COMPUTERS FOR EACH ACFT. FORTUNATELY FOR US; THE WX IN ZZZ2 WAS WELL ABOVE VMC MINIMUMS AND MY JUMPSEAT RIDER HAD HIS FLT KIT WITH HIM AND HE HAD SOME OF THE CHARTS FOR ZZZ2 AS THEY ARE PROVIDED FOR THE AIRBUS FLEET. WHY NOT THE B757/767 FLEET? TOO MANY ARPTS HAVE BEEN DELETED FROM THE B757/767 RTE MANUALS BOTH AS DEST ALTERNATES AND ALSO FOR USE AS ENRTE ALTERNATES. GOING TO ZZZ FROM ZZZ4 DOES NOT GIVE YOU MANY OPTIONS WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. IN OUR CASE; EVERYTHING HAPPENED AT ONCE AND NOT HAVING CHARTS FOR AN ALTERNATE MADE THINGS VERY INTERESTING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. WE MUST BE PROVIDED BETTER INFO! PUT MORE ALTERNATE ARPT INFO IE CHARTS BACK IN OUR RTE MANUALS.
