CARJ CAPTAIN REPORTS AGGRESSIVE INTERROGATION BY LEO'S FOLLOWING A RETURN TO BLOCKS DUE TO A MINOR COLLISION WITH ANOTHER ACFT ON TAXI FOR TKOF.

Narrative

POLICE WERE CONTACTED TO RPT TO OUR GATE IN ZZZ FOLLOWING AN INCIDENT WHERE CONTACT WAS MADE BTWN 2 ACFT DURING TAXI FOR TKOF. THEIR RESPONSE WAS QUICK YET OVERWHELMING. AS THE LAST PAX DISEMBARKED FROM OUR DAMAGED ACFT; THEY WERE THE FIRST TO COME ON BOARD TO BEGIN ASK QUESTIONS. ALTHOUGH NOT IN THE WRONG; THEIR TIMING WAS A LITTLE OFF. I (CAPT) REQUESTED TO LEAVE THE FLT DECK TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE FOR MYSELF PRIOR TO ENTERING THE CONDITION INTO THE COMPANY MANUAL. I WAS STILL QUESTIONED FOR A 'STATEMENT' AS I LEFT THE ACFT AND RETURNED TO THE FLT DECK. I TRIED TO CONVEY TO THE OFFICERS THAT I HAD TO MAKE SOME PHONE CALLS AND TAKE CARE OF SOME PAPERWORK AS WELL AS CONFIGURE THE ACFT FOR THE GATE ON GND PWR AND FINISH A SHUTDOWN CHKLIST. I POLITELY ASKED THEM TO GIVE ME A FEW MINS TO COMPLETE MY REQUIRED DUTIES AND I WOULD BE FREE TO ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS. I THEN WAS ON MY PHONE TO THE COPLT SITTING IN ROW 4 OF OUR ACFT WHEN A SERGEANT WITH LCL POLICE (NOT JUST A MIN LATER) CAME ON BOARD WITH 3 ADDITIONAL OFFICES ASKING TO TALK TO THE PF. I TOLD THEM I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH MY SUPVR IF HE WOULD GIVE ME A MIN. HE RESPONDED BY TELLING ME 'I NEED TO SEE YOUR LICENSE AND ACFT REGISTRATION NOW AND YOUR COOPERATION. YOU CAN CALL ANYBODY YOU WANT WHEN WE'RE DONE; BUT I KNOW YOU WANT TO COOPERATE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO TAKE YOU DOWNTOWN TO GET IT.' I THEN ENDED MY CALL TO THE COPLT TO GIVE A STATEMENT TO ONE OF THE OTHER OFFICERS. I APPRECIATE AND RESPECT THE OFFICERS AND THE JOB THEY DO; BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE AN UNDERSTANDING OF A CREW MEMBER'S PROCS AND PROTOCOLS IN SECURING PAX; CREW; ACFT; AND NOTIFICATION OF OUR PROPER AUTHS.
