A CRJ200 PILOT ON THE KENNEDY 1 SID WAS TOLD TO INTERCEPT V16 AFTER TKOF. THE CREW WAS UNABLE DUE TO DEPARTURE WORK LOAD AND ASKED TO CALL LATER.
Narrative
BEFORE DEP; WE WERE ISSUED A CLRNC TO DEPART JFK TO ZZZ ONTO KENNEDY 1 DEP; BREEZY POINT CLB; RADAR VECTORS TO DIXIE THEN V16 TO THE NEXT FIX. THIS CLRNC WAS LISTENED TO AND WRITTEN DOWN BY BOTH MYSELF AND THE CAPT SEPARATELY. IT WAS VERIFIED ON OUR FLT PLAN AND WE VERIFIED THE PROGRAMMING OF OUR FMS. WE BOTH HAD OUR DEP CHARTS OUT. WE PERFORMED THE TKOF AND WERE OUTBOUND ON THE BREEZY POINT CLB WHEN THE ATC CTLR ADVISED US TO JOIN V16 TO DIXIE. I READ BACK THE CLRNC AND THEN REALIZED THAT V16 WAS NOT PRESENT ON THE K1 DEPS CHART AND THAT WE DID NOT HAVE THE INBOUND HDG ON V16 TO DIXIE AS OUR CLRNC GAVE US VECTORS TO DIXIE. DUE TO THE URGENCY OF THE SITUATION AND CONGESTION AT JFK WE ASKED FOR A VECTOR TO DIXIE. THE CTLR ACTED PERTURBED BY THIS AND GAVE US A HDG TO JOIN V16 TO DIXIE AND A FREQ CHANGE TOO. I CLARIFIED THAT WE NEEDED VECTORS TO DIXIE AND HE SAID 'YOU CAN INTERCEPT V16.' I INFORMED HIM WE DID NOT HAVE IT IN OUR CLRNC AND DID NOT HAVE THE COURSE. HE GAVE US A HDG A FREQ AND THEN SAID 'YOU CAN DO IT;' WHICH I INTERPED TO MEAN YOU CAN GO DIRECT. HOWEVER; DUE TO THE UNCLR NATURE OF THE STATEMENT I CLRLY STATED WHAT I THOUGHT HE MEANT. 'DIRECT TO DIXIE' AND THE FREQ HE THEN SAID TO STAY WITH HIM. HE GAVE US A NUMBER TO CALL AND SAID RATHER MOCKINGLY THAT THE NUMBER WAS IN REGARDS TO MOST AIRLINES BEING ABLE TO JOIN A VICTOR AND THEN GAVE US A FREQ. I READ BACK THE NUMBER AND FREQ IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER; HOWEVER; IT UPSET ME A GOOD DEAL AND TOOK MY ATTN AWAY FROM THE JOB AT HAND IN A VERY BUSY AND FAST PACED ENVIRONMENT. THIS DISTR IN MY OPINION; WAS DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY AVOIDED BY SIMPLY GIVING US A VECTOR AS WAS ISSUED IN OUR INITIAL CLRNC. CHANGING SOMEONE'S CLRNC IN THE DEP PHASE OF FLT SHOULD BE AVOIDED; BUT I UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF OUR BUSINESS AND THAT THE NEED DOES PRESENT ITSELF. HOWEVER; WHEN SUCH A CHANGE IS ISSUED; IT WOULD BE MUCH SAFER AND MORE PRUDENT TO OFFER WITH ASSISTANCE; NOT HARASSMENT.
