MECH RPTS ON USING A Q400 WIRE DIAGRAM REF INSTEAD OF THE CORRECT CRJ-700 REF CHAPTER DURING SIGNOFF OF DEFECT. CORRECT REF WAS USED WHEN WORKING AT THE ACFT.

Narrative

DURING SIGNOFF OF DEFECT; I USED A Q400 WIRE DIAGRAM REF INSTEAD OF THE CORRECT CRJ REF. INCORRECT REF: Q400 W--D 34-44-01. CORRECT REF: CRJ W--D 34-44-04. ALL OTHER REFS USED IN THE SIGNOFF ARE CORRECT. I USED THE CORRECT REF WHEN WORKING AT THE ACFT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE LINE SHACK AREA; I LEFT THE MANUAL ON THE TABLE. DURING THE TIME I WAS PUTTING AWAY MY TOOLS; THE MANUAL WAS RETURNED BACK WITH THE REST OF THE MANUALS. I ALSO PERFORMED WING WALKER DUTIES ON AN ACFT MOVING OUT OF THE HANGAR. WHEN I RETURNED; I GRABBED THE Q400 WIRE DIAGRAM BY MISTAKE AND USED ITS REF IN MY SIGNOFF. I WAS SCANNING ACFT HISTORY FOR X AND I NOTICED MY SIGNOFF HAD THE Q400 REF. TOLD SUPVR AND FILLED OUT A SAFETY RPT. THINGS WERE A LITTLE HECTIC AT THIS TIME DUE TO ACFT MOVEMENT IN AND OUT OF THE HANGAR GETTING READY FOR MORNING FLTS. I WAS DISTR BECAUSE I WAS CALLED UPON TO WALK WING ON AN ACFT MOVING OUT OF THE HANGAR. SUGGESTIONS: 1) NOT BECOME DISTR DURING THE TIMES I AM PERFORMING MY SIGNOFFS. 2) SHOULD HAVE DONE THE SIGNOFF BEFORE PUTTING MY TOOLS AWAY.
