AN AIR CARRIER A320 CAPTAIN REPORTED ENCOUNTERING MORE MAINTENANCE ISSUES THAN NORMAL AND EXPRESSED CONCERN WITH HIS EMPLOYER'S USE OF CONTRACT MAINTENANCE.
Narrative
THIS IS DAY 1 OF A 3-DAY TRIP. WE HAD FLOWN 1 LEG IN THIS ACFT. WHILE WE WERE AT THE GATE TURNING ON THE APU BLEED AIR WE GOT AN APU BLEED AIR FAULT WHICH WITH SOME TIME ON THE PHONE WE CLEARED UP WITH MAINT CTL. OUR NEXT LEG; DIFFERENT ACFT WITH OUR PARKING BRAKE SET BUT THE STATUS MESSAGE PARKING BRAKE ON THE UPPER DISPLAY UNIT WOULD NOT DISPLAY. WE WROTE IT UP AND THEN HAD TO CALL IN OUR IN TIME AND FUEL QUANTITY. AFTER OUR LAYOVER ON OUR NEXT FLT; MY NAV DISPLAY UNIT FLASHED BTWN A DIAGONAL WHITE LINE AND THE MAP. WE PULLED OUT THE BOOK AND COULD NOT RECOVER THE UNIT. WE SENT IN THE MAINT MESSAGE BUT DUE TO OUR PROX TO ZZZ WE DID NOT CALL MAINT CTL. THE FO TOOK OVER THE FLYING DUTIES AND WE LANDED. I SEE A BAD TREND HERE AT ACR X. THIS WAS 3 LEGS FOR ME WITH 3 MECHANICAL PROBS. I BELIEVE THIS TREND IS MUCH WORSE THAN 6 MONTHS AGO AND I FEEL WITH OTHER COMPANY NOTICES THAT ARE COMING OUT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY FLEET WITH PROBS. THE FAA AND ACR X HAVE LET THE CONTRACT MAINT GET WAY OUT OF HAND. WE ARE SEEING WAY TOO MANY PROBS THAT ARE CAUSED BY BAD VENDERS OR BAD MAINT FACILITIES. I FEEL THIS TREND IS ALARMING AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED ASAP. WE NEED OUR OWN MAINT BACK.
