A320 FLIGHT CREW REPORTS LANDING GEAR FAILS TO EXTEND PROPERLY DURING APPROACH. GO AROUND IS INITIATED AND LANDING GEAR IS EXTENDED USING ALTERNATE EXTENSION METHODS. SAFE LANDING WITH TOW TO THE GATE.

Narrative

WHILE ON FINAL APCH THE LNDG GEAR DID NOT EXTEND WHEN LOWERED. THE GEAR HANDLE WAS CYCLED ONCE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE WHEEL PAGE OF THE ECAM INDICATED THAT THE GEAR WERE NOT DOWN AND LOCKED IN SUPPORT OF THE LNDG GEAR LIGHTS. A MISSED APCH WAS EXECUTED. THE GEAR WAS LOWERED USING THE ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION AND ALL ECAM PROCS WERE FOLLOWED. WE ASKED FOR THE EMER EQUIP AND FLEW A SUCCESSFUL APCH TO RWY XX. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE NOTIFIED AND A CABIN ADVISORY WAS ISSUED. TIME DID NOT PERMIT CONTACT WITH DISPATCH. AFTER LNDG WE WERE TOWED TO THE GATE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PROB AND THE LACK OF STEERING. THERE WAS A MINOR AMOUNT OF CONFUSION WITH THE HAND SIGNALS BEING USED BY THE FIRE DEPT. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC I WAS NOT SURE WHETHER THEY WERE NOTIFYING ME THAT THE WHEELS HAD BEEN CHOCKED OR THE PINS HAD BEEN INSTALLED IN THE GEAR. THE TOW-IN WAS UNEVENTFUL. AFTER LNDG I CALLED DISPATCH IN ORDER TO GET HIM IN THE LOOP AND TO ADVISE HIM THAT I WAS UNABLE TO NOTIFY HIM DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS.
