10 fatalitiesPrague-Ruzyne, Czech RepublicTakeoff (climb)

A training flight departed from Prague-Ruzyne Airport and crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the loss of all ten people on board.

What happened

During a local training mission, an aircraft departed from Prague-Ruzyne Airport and immediately encountered significant issues maintaining altitude. While attempting to climb, the plane made contact with overhead power lines. This impact caused the aircraft to descend into a field situated approximately one kilometer away from the airport perimeter.

All ten people on board the aircraft lost their lives in the accident. There were no survivors recorded at the crash site.

Findings

  • The flight was conducting a routine training operation at the time of the incident.
  • The primary factor leading to the crash was the aircraft's inability to gain sufficient altitude following departure, which resulted in the collision with electrical cables.

Probable cause

The aircraft struck power lines due to an inability to maintain necessary climb performance after takeoff.
