An aircraft flying from Seville to Valencia crashed during an emergency approach to Albacete, resulting in the deaths of all eight people on board.

What happened

A flight traveling from Seville-Tablada Airport toward Valencia was operating with a total of eight occupants, consisting of four passengers and four crew members. During the transit, the flight crew encountered adverse meteorological conditions characterized by snowfall and active icing.

Due to these environmental challenges, the decision was made to divert the flight to Albacete-Los Llanos AFB for an unplanned landing. While performing the final approach to the airfield, the aircraft lost control and impacted an open field situated less than 10 km southwest of the base near Santa Ana. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and eight fatalities.

Findings

The flight was operating in severe weather conditions involving snow and icing at the time of the accident.
