What happened
While operating an inbound flight to Tamatave (Toamasina), a three-engine aircraft went down in a densely forested region within the Mangerivla Reserve. The crash occurred approximately midway through the journey to its destination. The impact took place in a remote, wooded area, making immediate rescue efforts difficult.
Following the accident, the passenger and crew manifest included several individuals who did not survive. The incident resulted in seven fatalities and nine injuries. Among those who survived the initial impact, two passengers attempted to reach civilization on foot. These survivors traveled through the wilderness for two weeks before successfully locating a nearby village to request assistance.
Other survivors from the wreckage were located and brought to safety by rescue teams several days after the crash occurred.
