What happened

Shortly after departing from Calvi-Sainte Catherine Airport, an aircraft bound for Solenzara Airbase encountered an unforeseen emergency. In an attempt to manage the situation, the crew initiated an emergency landing procedure. During this maneuver, the aircraft struck a very steep mountain slope in the vicinity of Occhiatana, situated approximately 12 km from the departure airport.

Search efforts located the wreckage at an elevation of 1,300 metres near the Bocca di Battaglia Plateau. While the impact resulted in a crash landing, all six crew members were successfully evacuated from the site. Among the personnel rescued, two individuals sustained injuries during the event.
