How to read these numbers
- Reports — FAA service-difficulty filings about the engine itself, not the whole aircraft.
- ADs — airworthiness directives: mandatory inspections or fixes from the regulator.
- Years — span of the public FAA file, not the engine’s first flight.
A large fleet like the CFM56 will always show more reports than a new type. Counts are activity, not a safety ranking.
