Turbulence Forecast Map

Clear-air turbulence (CAT) is invisible chop at cruising altitude, caused by shifts in high-altitude wind currents — it isn't tied to storms or anything visible out the window. This map shows the forecast turbulence intensity at cruise altitude, so you can see where a flight might feel a bit bumpy. Turbulence is uncomfortable, not dangerous: modern airliners are built to handle far more stress than even severe turbulence produces — and with your seatbelt fastened while seated, it stays merely a bumpy ride.
