Airliner wings are certified to survive loads far beyond anything the atmosphere produces, and are tested to the point of structural failure well past that. Turbulence is uncomfortable, not structurally dangerous.
Turbulence injuries overwhelmingly involve people who were not belted in. Keeping the belt fastened while seated removes nearly all of the risk.
Crews meet chop on ordinary days and plan around the worst of it. What feels like a long stretch of bumps is usually a few minutes.
