What happened
A Twin Otter aircraft, operated by the French Air Force on behalf of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), was traveling from Al-Gorah to Sainte-Catherine when the crew reported experiencing technical difficulties to air traffic control. During the process of attempting an emergency descent and landing, the aircraft struck a truck transporting glass within Jordan. The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames and be destroyed.
There were nine people on board the aircraft, including one Canadian pilot and eight passengers, six of whom were members of the French Air Force. The collision resulted in 9 fatalities among the aircraft occupants. The two drivers of the truck sustained minor injuries in the incident.
