What happened
On October 19, 2021, at approximately 17:20 local time, a DJI Z30 Matrice 210 V2 remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) was conducting a verification flight in the Puente Alto sector of the Metropolitan Region. During the operation, the drone experienced a sudden loss of lift while flying over the parking area of the Puente Alto Carabineros station. This loss of altitude caused the aircraft to collide with a stationary vehicle.
The investigation
The DGAC Chile investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the flight within the police station parking lot. The impact resulted in damage to the DJI Z30 Matrice 210 V2 and caused damage to the windshield of the parked vehicle. At the time of the report, authorities were still analyzing collected data to determine the specific factors that led to the loss of lift.
