What happened
On August 2, 2008, at approximately 1400 central daylight time, a Learjet 35A, registration XB-KPB, was involved in an accident during landing at Guadalajara International Airport (MMGL) in Guadalajara, Mexico. The aircraft was operating under visual meteorological conditions with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 090 degrees at 6 knots.
Prior to the landing, the aircraft experienced a high voltage indication during its departure phase. While the crew attempted to correct the high voltage issue, the aircraft lost all electrical power, necessitating a return to the airport. During the landing sequence, the landing gear collapsed, which subsequently triggered a fire.
There were no injuries among the two crew members and four passengers, all of whom successfully egressed the aircraft. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.
