What happened
On February 18, 2009, at 1840 UTC, a Eurocopter EC225, registration G-REDU, ditched in the North Sea. The aircraft was operated by Bond Offshore Helicopters Ltd. The incident occurred approximately 125 nautical miles east of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, near an oil platform.
There were no injuries among the pilot and 17 passengers. The helicopter sustained substantial damage during the water landing. Weather conditions at the time of the event were Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).
