Wind Gust Causes Aircraft to Roll Inverted During Taxi

Incident Overview

During taxi into position for takeoff, a sudden wind gust affected the aircraft. The tower reported the gust at 52 knots, which lifted the right wing of the airplane. The force continued to rotate the aircraft and move it leftward on the ramp.

Pilot Response

The pilot attempted to maintain control but was unsuccessful. The aircraft continued rolling and eventually became inverted. After the aircraft came to rest, the pilot was able to egress without assistance and sustained no injuries.

Weather Conditions

The weather forecast issued 40 minutes prior to the accident indicated winds from 250 degrees at 15 knots. However, an updated weather observation taken 7 minutes after the accident showed winds from 260 degrees at 38 knots with gusts to 52 knots.
