Landing Event
During the landing phase, as the airplane approached the runway numbers at approximately 85 knots, the pilot reported that "the bottom dropped out." Subsequently, the airplane's right main landing gear impacted the runway. The hard landing resulted in substantial damage to the airplane's right wing.
Wind Conditions
According to the pilot, during the approach the control tower provided three different wind advisories, with directions varying from 260 to 300 degrees. At the time of the accident, the reported winds were from the northeast at 18 knots, gusting to 25 knots.

No anomalies were reported with the airplane's flight controls.
