Incident Details
A helicopter flight involving a pilot and three adult passengers resulted in a rollover during an emergency landing. The flight began with the pilot flying to a location at about 100 feet above sea level to pick up the passengers, then proceeded to a landing pad situated at an elevation of 1,391 feet above sea level.
Flight Sequence
According to the pilot, after one recognition pass, she commenced a "confined pinnacle approach" to the landing pad. While on short final, the pilot decided to execute a go-around and added power. However, the helicopter "did not respond accordingly." The low rotor rpm horn sounded and the low rotor rpm light illuminated. The pilot reported "no airspeed, no altitude" and continued with an emergency landing.
Emergency Landing and Rollover
Upon touchdown, with the right skid only partially on the landing pad, the helicopter rolled over to the left. This resulted in damage to the rotor system and tail boom. The pilot stated that winds were calm and the outside air temperature gauge indicated 24 degrees Celsius. She further noted that there were no preaccident mechanical anomalies with the helicopter.
