Incident Overview

A student pilot was conducting solo touch and go landings on the same runway. The pilot reported having performed seven or eight such landings earlier that day. During the accident event, the pilot touched down within the first third of the runway on the main landing wheels. When the nose was lowered and the nose landing gear contacted the ground, the airplane began to turn toward the right side of the runway.

Pilot Actions and Sequence

The pilot attempted to correct the deviation using aileron and rudder inputs but did not apply the brakes. The airplane continued off the paved runway surface, striking two runway lights and a taxiway sign. After leaving the runway, the airplane continued across a grass area before coming to a stop on an adjacent taxiway. The pilot then taxied the airplane to the ramp.
