Incident Overview
On January 7, 2011, at 0700 coordinated universal time (0800 Central European Time), a Beechcraft B200, registered F-GMPO, sustained minor damage after a precautionary landing at Montpellier - Mediterranee Airport, France. The flight had departed from Montpellier and was en route to Albert-Picardie, France.
Sequence of Events
During the initial climb, the flight crew encountered a total loss of electrical power. Instrument meteorological conditions prevailed at the time. The pilot executed a precautionary landing, during which the landing gear collapsed.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot, one additional crewmember, and two passengers sustained minor injuries. The aircraft itself received minor damage as a result of the landing gear collapse.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the French government, specifically the Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses (BEA). The BEA reported that the flight crew encountered a loss of electrical power during the initial climb, and the landing gear collapsed during the subsequent precautionary landing.
