What happened
On March 22, 2011, a pilot holding a valid Czech Republic license planned a flight using a paramotor (paraglider with a motorized wheeler). The pilot had borrowed the wing, an UP CAB L, from an unidentified individual for the purpose of flying.
The flight commenced with a takeoff from a northwest direction. After takeoff, the pilot executed a right-hand turn, moving toward the river. While flying with the wind, the wing experienced a stall, which caused the aircraft to deviate from its flight path and crash into the river.
Upon impact with the water, the pilot became entangled in the lines of the paraglider. The force of the current pulled the pilot deeper into the river. Although rescuers arrived at the scene and attempted resuscitation, the pilot could not be saved.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted by the user of the aircraft. The inquiry focused on the sequence of events leading to the loss of control and the subsequent entanglement in the paraglider lines.
