A Boeing 737-700 experienced an unusual attitude and loss of altitude during cruise flight over Japan.

What happened

On September 6, 2011, at 22:50 local time, a Boeing 737-700, registration JA16AN, was performing cruise flight at approximately 41,000 feet. While flying about 43km south of Hamamatsu City in the Shizuoka Prefecture, the aircraft entered an unusual attitude and subsequently lost altitude.

The crew successfully recovered the aircraft, which then proceeded to land at Tokyo International Airport in Tokyo, Japan. There was no damage reported to the aircraft. Of the 117 persons on board, 2 minor injuries were reported.
