A pilot reports that during landing rollout, the tail veered right, and the right main landing gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to veer off the runway. Wind was light and variable but gusting to 10 knots.

Flight and Approach

The pilot and a passenger flew locally for about an hour before returning to the accident airport. During a fly-over, the pilot observed that windsocks at both runway ends were hanging straight down. He flew a normal left-hand pattern and verified the airplane was configured for landing on base leg. On final approach, he determined no crosswind correction was necessary.

Landing and Rollout

The landing flare and touchdown were normal. However, during the rollout, the tail veered to the right. The pilot increased power to execute a go-around, but the airplane began turning and the right wing lifted. He reduced power and applied corrective flight control inputs, but the right main landing gear collapsed. The airplane veered off the runway and came to a stop.
