Event Sequence
A pilot reported that during landing, the rollout was smooth as the tail came down. Subsequently, rudder control was lost, and the airplane veered to the left. The pilot brought the control stick back and applied the right brake. The propeller then struck the runway, and the airplane nosed over.
Damage
The vertical tail and rudder sustained substantial damage during the noseover.
Pilot Comments
The pilot stated that there were no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane during the flight. He noted that he probably should have dropped the tail earlier in the landing rollout to avoid the loss of rudder control.
