Overview

A student pilot flying a solo VFR cross-country flight experienced a loss of control during a touch-and-go landing attempt. The accident occurred on the third leg of the journey, with the intention to perform a touch-and-go and then return to the departure airport.

Sequence of Events

During the first two approaches, the student pilot executed go-around maneuvers due to turbulence encountered when the airplane entered ground effect. On the third approach, the airplane landed to the left of the runway centerline and began to skid left. The student pilot reported applying the wrong rudder correction, resulting in the airplane departing the runway. After adding power in an attempt to pull up, the right wing stalled. The left wing then contacted the ground, and the airplane came to rest in a nose-down attitude in a bean field adjacent to the runway.
