Flight and Decision
The pilot heard that wind would increase later in the day, making conditions less ideal for flying. He decided to fly locally early. During the flight, as conditions became choppy, he headed back toward the farm airstrip. He noticed that the wind correction angle needed to maintain a heading had increased significantly.
Approach and Abort
On a normal downwind approach, the pilot found the wind correction angle to be very large. He aborted the landing and executed a full-power climb back to a safe altitude.
Road Landing Attempt
The pilot decided to land on an east-west blacktop road in front of the farm. He circled due to traffic on the road and concentrated on avoiding vehicles. While focused on traffic, he saw wires directly ahead and heard the sound of wires impacting the airplane. He applied full power.
Accident and Damage
After the wire strike, the airplane began pulling to the right. The pilot could not maintain the centerline. The airplane settled, impacted the ditch on the right side, and nosed over. During the nose-over, the airplane sustained substantial wing damage.

The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane related to the flight.
