What happened
On May 14, 2013, a paragliding accident occurred at Góra Żar, near Międzybrode Żywieckie. The pilot, a 25-year-old male holding a valid paragliding pilot certificate issued in September 2012, launched from the northern takeoff site heading toward Kozubnik at approximately 12:00 local time. During the flight, the pilot's Chili 1 [SKYWALK] paraglider struck the treetops. The impact caused the pilot to fall to the ground, resulting in one fatality.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted based on information provided by the Police. The PKBWL noted that the available information regarding the sequence of events and specific circumstances was extremely limited. Furthermore, the pilot failed to fulfill the mandatory obligation to report the accident through the official aviation occurrence reporting system, despite correspondence sent by the Commission regarding this matter.
