What happened
On June 2, 2013, at approximately 19:00, a powered paramotor accident occurred near Podwiesk, close to Chełmużno. Witnesses observed the aircraft flying over a residential area when it struck the treetops and subsequently collided with a medium-voltage power line. Following the impact with these obstacles, the aircraft fell to the ground. The pilot, a 26-year-old male, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted based on information provided by the Police. The investigation established that the pilot was operating the aircraft without the necessary pilot qualifications for powered paramotors. Due to the highly limited nature of the available information and the fact that the participant failed to fulfill the mandatory obligation to report the accident through the official aviation occurrence reporting system, the Commission was unable to determine the specific technical or environmental causes of the accident.
