Accident Overview
On August 22, 2013, at 0845 central daylight time, a Gulfstream AM G-164B airplane, registration N8402K, struck the ground during takeoff near Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. The aircraft was being operated as an aerial application flight under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137, though the pilot did not possess the required operating certificate. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed.
Pilot Statement
The commercial pilot, who was the sole occupant and uninjured, reported that during takeoff he did not have the engine power set properly. While in ground effect, the airplane began to stall and settled into the terrain, coming to rest upright. The pilot stated there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have prevented normal operation.
Operational Details
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot lacked a Part 137 operating certificate. Multiple attempts to obtain a completed Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident Report (NTSB Form 6120.1) were unsuccessful.

The airplane incurred substantial damage to the fuselage and both wings.
