What happened
On April 18, 2015, a Beechcraft C90GT operated by FLYJET sp. z o.o. was performing an approach to land on runway 29 at Gdańsk Airport (EPGD). After the crew commanded the extension of the landing gear, they observed that the indication for the left main landing gear failed to show as down and locked. Additionally, the landing gear extension process light remained unlit.
Following the initial failure, the crew attempted to re-extend the gear, but the indication status did not change. To verify the actual physical state of the gear, the pilot performed a low-level pass over the runway to allow ground observers to visually confirm the gear's position. Once ground personnel confirmed that the gear was visually extended and locked, the crew completed the "EMER LDG GEAR EXT" checklist. The aircraft subsequently landed and taxied to the apron without further incident.
The investigation
The investigation, conducted by the operator, focused on the failure of the cockpit instrumentation to accurately reflect the state of the left main landing gear. The inquiry examined the sequence of events during the approach and the subsequent verification procedures used by the crew.
