What happened
On June 13, 2015, a skydiver with experience of 2,163 jumps was performing a descent from an altitude of 1,500 meters. The main parachute canopy deployed at approximately 1,200 meters. Once the canopy was fully inflated, it began performing deep, uncontrolled rotations.
In response to the instability, the skydiver initiated emergency procedures by jettisoning the main canopy and deploying the reserve parachute. Despite the deployment of the reserve, the individual sustained fatal injuries upon landing on the operational area of the EPNC landing field in Chrcynno.
The investigation
An investigation was conducted by the jump organizer. The examination of the parachute equipment following the incident did not reveal any specific cause for the disruption in the deployment process. Technical inspections confirmed that the control handles were in their proper positions and the slider was located above the suspension lines.
