What happened
On June 28, 2017, a paragliding flight occurred in the vicinity of Janowiec, near a local castle. During the flight, the pilot encountered a sudden change in wind direction combined with a loss of lift. These atmospheric conditions caused the aircraft to strike the hillside from which the flight had originally departed.
As a result of the impact, the pilot sustained serious injuries.
The investigation
Upon reviewing the circumstances, the investigation revealed that the pilot did not possess the required qualifications or authorizations to conduct paragliding flights at the time of the occurrence. Consequently, the State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL) declined to conduct a formal aviation accident investigation.
