What happened
On May 12, 2018, at approximately 0730 UTC, a Zenith Zodiac CH 610 HD, registration ZU-FFA, was performing a flight near Rand Airport in Germiston, South Africa. During the flight, the aircraft experienced a loss of engine power.
In an attempt to land, the aircraft touched down in a savannah area approximately 100 meters short of runway 11. Following the touchdown, the airplane overturned. The pilot sustained unspecified injuries, and there were no fatalities.
The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the event.
