Accident Details
On July 7, 2019, at approximately 1000 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 180J, registration N52031, sustained substantial damage while landing at Okeechobee County Airport (OBE) in Okeechobee, Florida. The airline transport pilot and a passenger were not injured. The flight was conducted as a personal operation under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the flight, which had departed Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, about 0900.

The single-engine Cessna 180J was on a personal flight. The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions with the airplane.
Pilot Report
According to the pilot, the airplane touched down on the centerline of runway 5 and began to drift left. The pilot applied right rudder input to correct, but the aircraft again drifted left. Further application of right brake and rudder input caused the airplane to change direction by approximately 30 degrees; however, the left wing and left horizontal stabilizer contacted the runway surface before the airplane came to a stop.
Damage
Review of damage photographs provided by the pilot revealed substantial damage to the left wing, left elevator, and left horizontal stabilizer.
