What happened
On July 13, 2020, during the afternoon, a pilot attempted a recreational flight at a landing field in Chojna. After preparing the Uniwersal 23 paramotor, the pilot assessed the weather conditions as favorable. During the takeoff roll, the wing failed to align centrally over the trike. Despite attempts to correct the position, the misalignment persisted even after the aircraft left the ground. At an altitude of approximately 1 meter, the pilot aborted the takeoff by shutting down the engine. The subsequent landing, characterized by a traverse, combined with the uneven surface of the landing field, caused the trike to overturn. The pilot sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. The incident resulted in broken propeller blades and damage to the trike structure.
The investigation
The PKBWL investigation focused on the sequence of events during the takeoff roll and the environmental conditions at the Chojna landing field. The commission examined the pilot's actions, the aircraft's behavior during the takeoff, and the physical state of the landing area to determine why the aircraft became unstable and ultimately overturned.
