What happened
On August 23, 2020, an accident involving a paramotor took place in the vicinity of Ignalin, Poland. The incident involved a powered paraglider during flight operations.
The investigation
Following a review of the documentation provided by a member of the PKBWL, the Commission evaluated whether a full-scale investigation was warranted. The Commission ultimately decided to abstain from conducting a formal investigation into the occurrence.
Findings
The decision to forego a formal investigation was based on the finding that the person operating the aircraft was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Due to the nature of this finding, the Commission elected to notify the Police and the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) and transfer all gathered materials regarding the incident to those authorities.
