What happened

On May 15, 2025, at approximately 1339 EDT, a Grumman TBM-3, registration N420GP, was conducting a Part 91 positioning flight when it was involved in an accident near Terre Haute, Indiana. During the final approach to the runway, the pilot attempted to increase engine power, but the engine failed to respond.

The pilot attempted to troubleshoot the issue by switching fuel tanks and following the appropriate emergency checklist procedures, but engine power could not be restored. Consequently, the pilot performed a forced landing, touching down on an airport perimeter road. Following the initial touchdown, the aircraft impacted a drainage ditch and struck the airport perimeter fence, eventually coming to rest in an inverted position.

The accident resulted in one serious injury to the pilot and one minor injury to the pilot-rated passenger. There were no fatalities. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the fuselage, both wings, and the empennage.
