What happened
On June 30, 2025, at approximately 19:32 CDT, an ICP SRL Savannah S, registration N5000S, was involved in an accident near Slaughter, Louisiana. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use.
Prior to the flight, the pilot had noted that the flap position indicator was malfunctioning. On the morning of the accident, the pilot performed maintenance on the flap motor, confirmed the flap potentiometer was secure, and adjusted the flap alignment using a rigging protress. Following this maintenance, ground tests indicated the flaps could be set to 0°, 15°, and 30°, and the indicator was functioning correctly.
To verify the flaps worked in flight, the pilot taxied to runway 36 at Magnolia Airpark (LS77). The pilot set the flaps to 15° for takeoff. Immediately after takeoff, the aircraft's nose pitched up steeply and the airplane veered to the left, failing to climb. The pilot lowered the nose and turned back toward the runway, but the aircraft stalled approximately 10 feet above the ground and struck a child's play structure.
The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the wings, fuselage, and empennage. The pilot and passenger were not injured.
